On the Way: A Pilgrim's Journal from Lourdes
This summer (2026), Bishop Thomas Daly lead a pilgrimage to Lourdes, France, accompanied by seminarians from the Diocese of Spokane.
Throughout the pilgrimage, Seminarian Mitchell Carey shared personal reflections from his journey of faith. These journal entries invite readers to experience Lourdes through the eyes of a seminarian as he encounters the places, people, and moments that continue to shape his vocation and deepen his relationship with Jesus Christ.
We invite you to journey with him "On the Way."

The Imprint of the Creator: A Brother’s Witness to the Value of Every Life
When DeSales High School junior Jesse Vawter reflected on Christ’s words in Matthew 25:40, he found inspiration close to home. His essay, “The Imprint of the Creator,” draws on the life of his brother Matthew, who has Down syndrome, to offer a powerful witness to the inherent dignity and value of every human life. Jesse’s reflection recently earned first place nationally in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas annual essay contest.
