Frequently Asked Questions

Can students who are not Catholic attend Catholic schools?

Our Catholic schools welcome students and families of all faith traditions. School ministry is recognized as part of the Catholic Church’s overall evangelizing mission, and we open our doors to all families seeking an authentic Catholic education, regardless of their particular affiliation.

Will my child be welcome in a Catholic school?

Yes! Our Catholic schools celebrate the diversity and dignity of the human person. A Catholic school is a tight-knit community with a place for everyone because Jesus never denies the Gospel to anyone.

Are scholarships or financial aid available?

The Nazareth Guild seeks full enrollment for all schools, especially those serving the underserved and under-resourced, by offering tuition assistance grants to students who cannot afford the total cost of tuition. Nazareth Guild seeks to support the Catholic schools in eastern Washington in their efforts to offer an excellent academic education based on the Catholic tradition.

Do Catholic schools accept students with special needs?

Our schools prioritize inclusive education, providing tailored support and a compassionate environment where special needs students can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.

Do Catholic schools support gifted students?

The Catholic Diocese of Spokane schools offer a blend of rigorous academics and moral education, providing an ideal environment for nurturing gifted students' intellectual and spiritual development with personalized attention and smaller class sizes.

Do Catholic schools provide a safe and secure environment?

Our Catholic schools ensure students' safety through various measures, including implementing security protocols, conducting regular safety drills, providing supervision during school hours, promoting a positive and respectful school culture, fostering open communication between students, staff, and parents, and collaborating with local law enforcement agencies when necessary.

All diocesan and school faculty, staff and volunteers must complete an annual Safe Environment Training through the VIRTUS Program.

Do you offer nursery, preschool, and extended day programs?

Yes! Many of our schools have Educare programs that will care for children as little as six weeks, preschool-aged children, and before and after-school childcare.

What is expected of Catholic school parents?

We believe that parents are the primary formators of their children. In light of that, we hope that parents will foster just as much (and more) of their children's human, intellectual, and spiritual formation at home as they experience in our schools.
